Locations

There are several locations in which we filmed. For each new location established, we compiled several different camera shots for variation. Some were shown by drone footage, while others by our normal camera. For the first couple of scenes, we had to find a parking lot in which we could film. We decided to go to a public lot close to my house that belongs to the public beach. There, we were able to film freely and there were enough cars around to make it look believable. For safe measure, we made sure to not capture any license plates during filming. We also only took off our masks when there was nobody else in the lot due to the current pandemic. Next, we had to find a house to film in that matched the layout in our script, and where we could have consent to film by the owners. Luckily, our friend Ella had the perfect house and did not mind us filming. What we loved about her house is that she had her initials on the wall of her bedroom. Since both Ella and the main character of our film had names that started with the same letter, it worked out perfectly. When it came to finding a location to shoot the school scenes, it was a bit more difficult. This is due to the fact we were unable to film at the school in which we attend. Luckily, one of our family friends who is a teacher was gracious enough to let us use her classroom. We made sure to do so when her classroom was vacant of any students to maintain COVID guidelines. Once Elle is taken into the car by the boy, there is a drone shot establishing that they are in the middle of nowhere. For this part, we drove to the Everglades to film. There was a side road we found within the park that had no cars on it, giving us the time and ability to film such a shot. We cut the shot right as the car. pulled in so during the cabin scene it seemed as if the cabin was in fact in the middle of nowhere. For the cabin itself, we had to find a location that gave off a cozy, wooden feel. We decided to film this part at my grandmother's house. Her house is constructed of wood and is surrounded by a large amount of grass, giving it the perfect effect.
