Props and Costumes

Image
For this entry, I will be explaining the props and costumes for each scene within Emma and I's short film. For the opening scene, we did not have to purchase anything new due to the simplicity of the scene. Kayla will be seen wearing a navy blue sundress and sneakers, while Elle will be seen wearing blue jeans, a white top, and sneakers as well. The only props within this scene are backpacks and a cell phone, both of which we already had in possession. The same applies or scene number 2, as Elle will be seen in the same clothing only this time in a car. We will be utilizing my personal car for this scene, which is sensible because I will be playing the role of Elle. In scene 3, Elle returns back to her home. The props utilized are basic household items, which are already furnished within the location we have chosen to film. In the following scene, two new props are introduced to the film. These two items are a bottle of melatonin pills, and flowers in a vase. We were able to purch

Social Media Blog

For our short film, Emma and I created several social media accounts in order to promote our film. First, we created a new email through Gmail in order to keep our new accounts objective to our film. The email we created is deceptionthefilm@gmail.com. We then got to create these new accounts. First, we created a Facebook page. However, we were having difficulty trying to figure out how to change the name presented on the page. As a result, the page currently shows up as my name instead of the film name. We were more successful with the additional accounts. We created a Twitter account under the user "@FilmDeception." Each account had to use a different user due to the fact some names were taken on some platforms while others were not. We also created a Youtube page under "Deception the Film." The most difficult page for us to create was the Instagram page. For some reason, each time we tried to create an account via the new email we received a notice that the accou

Daytime Filming

We decided to begin filming our short film. In order to make the best use of our time, we decided to film the scenes that took place during the day first. Because there's only so much daylight time, we had to be careful about how we used this time. We also had to make sure the amount of light aligned with the time of day each scene took place. The first scenes we filmed were those that took place in the parking lot. We chose these first because, in the film, they take place in the afternoon when there is the brightest level of light. These were also some of the simplest scenes to film because the camera work utilized was very basic and short. After completing these scenes, we went to our friend Ella's house to film the scenes that take place in Elle's home. Although this location was inside, the natural light coming through the windows has an effect on the filming and shows a sign of the time of day it is. Therefore, we still had to film these scenes pretty early in the da

Locations

There are several locations in which we filmed. For each new location established, we compiled several different camera shots for variation. Some were shown by drone footage, while others by our normal camera. For the first couple of scenes, we had to find a parking lot in which we could film. We decided to go to a public lot close to my house that belongs to the public beach. There, we were able to film freely and there were enough cars around to make it look believable. For safe measure, we made sure to not capture any license plates during filming. We also only took off our masks when there was nobody else in the lot due to the current pandemic. Next, we had to find a house to film in that matched the layout in our script, and where we could have consent to film by the owners. Luckily, our friend Ella had the perfect house and did not mind us filming. What we loved about her house is that she had her initials on the wall of her bedroom. Since both Ella and the main character of our
