Genres I want to research

 Due to the intended plot of my short film, there is a limited amount of genres I believe would fit the film. The three I would like to research are horror, thriller, and drama. I believe any of these three would embody the film very well. First of all, I'd like to research the horror drama. Horror intrigues me because it seemingly has a very large range of what could fit into a film of its kind. Some horror films entail very generic horror factors, such as jump scares, clowns, etc. In these types of films, the horror is developed through its characters and key scenes rather than the plot itself. On the other end of the spectrum, horror movies may also lack these factors and be defined by the plot itself along with the themes developed. I believe this genre would be worthy of research because my film will be dealing with quite an eerie plotline, but this genre also gives me room to include key horrific characters and scares. Next, I would also be interested in researching the thriller genre. This genre intrigues me because it seemingly has many other types of genres overlapping it. They tend to be more suspenseful than horror movies, which fits in perfectly with what the plot of my movie will entail. The knowledge I have gained concerning the thriller genre is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's films, which is close to the type of film I would like to create. Finally, thrillers also seem to include plot-twists, which is also something my film will include. The final genre I would like to research is the Drama genre. The drama genre sparks my interest because of the idea of conflict. The majority of drama films include a central conflict, which I believe to be essential for creating a successful film. They also seem to include character development well, which I'd also like to capture effectively during the short time-frame of my film. The spectrum to which drama films very is also a very large one, giving me room to experiment with factors such as comedy or tragedy. Overall, all three of these genres generally seem to encapture the film I'd like to create, which leads me to believe further research is required.

 There are several locations in which we filmed. For each new location established, we compiled several different camera shots for variation. Some were shown by drone footage, while others by our normal camera. For the first couple of scenes, we had to find a parking lot in which we could film. We decided to go to a public lot close to my house that belongs to the public beach. There, we were able to film freely and there were enough cars around to make it look believable. For safe measure, we made sure to not capture any license plates during filming. We also only took off our masks when there was nobody else in the lot due to the current pandemic. Next, we had to find a house to film in that matched the layout in our script, and where we could have consent to film by the owners. Social Media Blog

 For our short film, Emma and I created several social media accounts in order to promote our film. First, we created a new email through Gmail in order to keep our new accounts objective to our film. The email we created is deceptionthefilm@gmail.com. We then got to create these new accounts. First, we created a Facebook page. However, we were having difficulty trying to figure out how to change the name presented on the page. As a result, the page currently shows up as my name instead of the film name. We were more successful with the additional accounts. We created a Twitter account under the user "@FilmDeception." Each account had to use a different user due to the fact some names were taken on some platforms while others were not. We also created a Youtube page under "Deception the Film."  I'm Back! My name is Alexandra Kuroda, and I am a 12th grader at Fort Lauderdale High School. Two years ago, I had the pleasure of taking AICE Media Studies AS level, where I grew a love for film and the media industry. Now, I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in the next level of this course, and learn more about what the world of media has to offer. Growing up in a family heavily involved in the music industry, as well as with an Aunt and Uncle in film production, I became passionate about music and film from a very young age.
