My Group


As stated in my prior blog, I will be working with Emma Young for my final task. Emma and I have been best friends for the past 9 years. We have always collaborated well together, and are very aware of each other's work ethics. We both took Media Studies AS Level 2 years ago, making her the perfect partner for these assignments. 2 years ago, we completed a music video, commercial, and several other projects. This year, we are excited to expand on our skills. We have been assigned to complete our pitch within the coming days. We have both decided we want to incorporate a plot twist to the end of our short film. I have written down a few ideas to which I’d find interesting. These ideas are mostly related to a more serious genre of film. I have taken creative inspiration from movies created by A24 and Quentin Tarrentino, as well as TV shows such as Black Mirror. Emma and I are lucky to have the advantage of having access to many forms of equipment. These include a drone camera, tripod, a lighting board, disposable camera, etc. We would like to incorporate flashbacks using the disposable camera, and overviews from several locations using the drone. Coming from a family surrounded by film and music, I have also given us access to professional input and guidance. In the future, I am very interested in working within the film industry. I’d like to start my pursuit by mastering film marketing, then hopefully going to film school to learn about production after gaining my Bachelor’s Degree. Emma and I’s passion for creativity will certainly come in handy for this course. My passion is showcased by the fact I am taking this class without the intent of getting any credit for it. The assignments associated have gained my interest immensely and I am very ready to get started!

Locations

 There are several locations in which we filmed. For each new location established, we compiled several different camera shots for variation. Some were shown by drone footage, while others by our normal camera. For the first couple of scenes, we had to find a parking lot in which we could film. We decided to go to a public lot close to my house that belongs to the public beach. There, we were able to film freely and there were enough cars around to make it look believable. For safe measure, we made sure to not capture any license plates during filming. We also only took off our masks when there was nobody else in the lot due to the current pandemic. Next, we had to find a house to film in that matched the layout in our script, and where we could have consent to film by the owners. Social Media Blog

 For our short film, Emma and I created several social media accounts in order to promote our film. First, we created a new email through Gmail in order to keep our new accounts objective to our film. The email we created is deceptionthefilm@gmail.com. We then got to create these new accounts. First, we created a Facebook page. However, we were having difficulty trying to figure out how to change the name presented on the page. As a result, the page currently shows up as my name instead of the film name. We were more successful with the additional accounts. We created a Twitter account under the user "@FilmDeception." Each account had to use a different user due to the fact some names were taken on some platforms while others were not. We also created a Youtube page under "Deception the Film."  I'm Back! My name is Alexandra Kuroda, and I am a 12th grader at Fort Lauderdale High School. Two years ago, I had the pleasure of taking AICE Media Studies AS level, where I grew a love for film and the media industry. Now, I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in the next level of this course, and learn more about what the world of media has to offer. Growing up in a family heavily involved in the music industry, as well as with an Aunt and Uncle in film production, I became passionate about music and film from a very young age. While watching movies with friends, they tend to comment on what was filmed, yet I am always intrigued by how it was filmed.
