I'm Back!

My name is Alexandra Kuroda, and I am a 12th grader at Fort Lauderdale High School. Two years ago, I had the pleasure of taking AICE Media Studies AS level, where I grew a love for film and the media industry. Now, I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in the next level of this course, and learn more about what the world of media has to offer. Growing up in a family heavily involved in the music industry, as well as with an Aunt and Uncle in film production, I became passionate about music and film from a very young age. While watching movies with friends, they tend to comment on what was filmed, yet I am always intrigued by how it was filmed. I pay attention to the different camera angles, the symbolism, exposure levels, etc. I hope to one day become a marketing manager for a major film company, such as A24. For the final task for this course, my partner will be Emma Young. We have been best friends since third grade, and have always collaborated and worked well together. Two years ago, we also collaborated in the AS level class. Together, we created a commercial, music video, and film opening. This year, we will be working to create a 5 minute short film. We have discussed some possible ideas, and have so far agreed on the fact we would like to include a plot twist at the very end. We understand it may be difficult to establish a full story in which the audience will be able to understand in such a small time frame. However, we also believe we can accomplish this by diving right into the plot from early on. As for the plot itself, we have yet to settle on a conclusion. The marketing details will likely be covered by me primarily, due to the fact it relates heavily to my interests. For the actual filming of the short film, we will incorporate several types of cameras, such as a drone camera and tripod. Editing will be done most likely on Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to take this course and excited to complete the film!
